CABIN ROLES - Walk with campers. Build trust. Be present.

Main Camp Counselor - (Cabin Leader) - Leads a cabin group, guides daily schedules, supports campers spiritually and emotionally, and creates a safe, joyful, Christ-centered environment.
Co-Counselor - Works alongside the Main Counselor to support activities, build relationships, and help foster a positive and welcoming cabin culture.
Junior Counselor - Assists cabin leaders, helps supervise campers, joins activities, and grows in leadership under the mentorship of senior staff.
Lead Male Counselor/Lead Female Counselor - Oversees all male or female cabins, supports counselors, helps problem-solve, and ensures unity, safety, and care across cabin groups.
Prayer & Care Team - Provides spiritual and emotional support through prayer, encouragement, and presence, caring for campers and volunteers throughout camp.

ACTIVITY ROLES - Bring energy, creativity, and fun to camp life.

Activity Assistant - Supports sports, crafts, games, enrichment classes, and daytime activities. Helps create a fun, engaging environment for campers.
Waterfront Helper - Assists with water activities like kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and paddleboarding under lifeguard supervision.
Lifeguard - Ensures camper safety during all waterfront activities, monitors the lake area, and works with the waterfront team to run safe, fun water experiences. (Certification required.)
Creative Arts Support - Helps lead workshops such as dance, drama, puppetry, art, media, or worship arts, encouraging campers to explore their creative gifts.
Talent Show & Evening Events Team - Supports themed nights, games, costumes, and special events that bring the whole camp together for memorable moments.
Field Games & Recreation Team - Helps run outdoor group games, competitions, and activities that build teamwork and excitement.

HOSPITALITY ROLES - Create spaces where campers feel cared for.

Kitchen & Dining Crew - Helps prepare meals, serve food, set up dining spaces, and ensure campers feel nourished and welcomed.
Snacks Team - Assists with snack distribution, hydration stations, and creating small moments of comfort throughout the day.
Operations Team - Supports set-up, clean-up, transitions, and behind-the-scenes tasks that keep camp running smoothly and safely.
Registration & Check-In Helpers - Welcomes families on arrival day, assists with check-in, and helps campers transition smoothly into their cabin groups.
Facilities & Grounds Support - Helps maintain clean, safe spaces by assisting with light cleaning, trash runs, and general upkeep of camp areas.
Store Helper - Supports the camp store if applicable (shirts, snacks, small items), helping manage simple sales and camper interactions.

YEAR-ROUND ROLES - Serve beyond the summer.

Seasonal Retreats - Volunteer during fall, winter, and spring weekend retreats that bring campers back for short, meaningful getaways.

Camp Prep & Clean-Up Days/Weekends - Assist with seasonal projects like room setup, cabin refreshes, yard work, organizing supplies, or winterizing spaces.

Special Events & Outreach - Support family events, worship nights, holiday programs, and community outreach moments throughout the year.

These roles let volunteers stay part of the Camp Comanche family, invest in ongoing discipleship, and strengthen community relationships.

No matter your personality, experience, or gifts, we’ll help you find a role that feels meaningful and fun. Some volunteers love mentoring, others love behind-the-scenes service, and many discover new gifts along the way.

Roles can absolutely be combined, and at Camp Comanche, they often are!

You might be a Cabin Counselor who also helps with crafts, or a Lifeguard who supports evening events. Even our senior leadership and board members jump into multiple roles throughout camp, because serving together is what makes this community special.
